Why are the ADCN Awards important for young creative talent?
"I think it’s important for young creatives to realise that not winning an award doesn’t mean your idea was bad – it might just not have been the right fit for that particular brief, or that particular jury. In our group, we spent a lot of time picking apart what each category really asks for. When something does or doesn’t work within those parameters. You start to see that judging isn’t black and white. It’s subjective, shaped by people’s experiences, tastes, and expectations. And that’s where the real value is. It teaches you how to take a knock, reflect, and come back stronger. How to fail better – which, if you’re in this industry for the long run, might be the most important skill of all."
What does it mean to you to be in the talent seat of the jury panel?
"For me, the biggest thing was being in the room. Meeting people I wouldn’t normally cross paths with. Hearing different perspectives, different ways of thinking. That’s where diversity actually starts – when networks open up. When people from different backgrounds are invited in, not just to participate but to help shape the conversation. Being part of that felt important. It showed me how much stronger the work (and the industry) can be when more voices are heard."
